This is a full-time role for a Senior and/or Cost Manager. The Cost Manager will typically be responsible for managing project costs, preparing cost estimates, analyzing project budgets, and providing cost advice to clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide estimate and cost planning services, which include producing and presenting the final cost plan.
- Ability to estimate at conceptual, programming and detailed levels.
- Assist with feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.
- Perform all aspects of procurement, including managing the pre-qualification stage, produce bid list, bid analysis, produce bid report, and compiling contractual documents.
- Participate effectively with post-contract cost variances and the change control processes, where applicable refer major changes to the line manager.
- Manage cost checks and carry out valuations on larger projects, and ensure timely and accurate cost checking and valuation process.
- Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients.
- Provide input into value engineering; negotiate and approve final accounts.
- Maintain liaison with clients and other consultants at all project stages.
- (Senior) Provide leadership to the cost management team, when necessary, ensuring the delivery of all relevant deliverables and services.
- (Senior) Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to the appropriate line managers and utilize the marketing database.
- Identify improvements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to the appropriate line manager.
Ideal Qualifications
- Good technical experience in all cost management areas; pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
- Demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam/On-Screen Take-Off, and/or other related computer software.
- Good organization skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
- Development of strong relationships with clients and cross-functional team members.
- (Senior) Experienced in a variety of methods of procurement and forms of contract.
- (Senior) Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
Ideal Education/Experience
- College degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field with a technical focus.
- Experience managing costs for construction projects and/or relatable construction sectors is advantageous.
- (Senior) Solid experience preparing large-scale cost estimates.
- (Senior) Proven track record managing large-scale projects at a program level.
